Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
During my time with the company I performed the work of a technician, operating various presses and manufacturing tools in addition to performing validation testing on various mounts.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Through this experience I gained a better understanding of what is included in the engineering process and gained familiarity with a highly technical environment. I gained additional mechanical skills from frequently using hand and power tools which was an area I had a minimum amount of experience with.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this experience was knowing that I was growing as an engineer which would help me not only with my future career prospects but in my classes as well. Some of the processes I was involved with at Hutchinson are things I can make direct connections to what I've learned in my classes at GVSU.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has helped direct me in which field of engineering I may want to work in when I graduate. The automotive industry has a great culture in Michigan and I may be interested in pursuing a career in the field later in my life.
