Description of the Organization
L3 Avionics develops and produces avionics equipment for commercial and military aircraft.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I mainly helped design tooling for the testing equipment. I used both SolidWorks and AutoCAD to create 3-D models and engineering drawings for the parts we need to make. I also created and modified assembly drawings and schematics for cables that we would use for testing.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I mainly improved my abilities to work with modeling and drafting software. I also gained experience working with mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of the co-op experience was being given my own projects and the challenge of having to solve problems on my own.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
Even though this company is more focused on the electrical than the mechanical aspects of aircraft, I found that I enjoy working in this industry, particularly in development and testing.
