Description of the Organization

MWF is a nonprofit that strives to shatter the glass ceiling for female entrepreneurs. MWF attempts this feat with the financial support of microloans ranging from $2,500 to $40,000. These loans financially benefit women entrepreneurs who are either in the process of establishing or expanding their businesses. MWF also designs programs for girls in middle school and high school to promote self-esteem along with financial expertise.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

I completed administrative tasks such as; creating a Doodle Poll, generating purchase orders, utilizing Donor Perfect, and answering/making phone calls. I also completed substantial research on a potential organization merger with national implications

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

Through interning at MWF, I also learned more about their Enough SAID campaign. In 2009, there were more than 11,000 untested rape kits in a Detroit Police Department storage unit (MWF). Enough SAID was created to fund the testing of these untested rape kits. The Detroit Crime Commission (DCC), a fellow nonprofit, was able to reduce the per kit testing price from $1,500 to $490 (MWF).

Favorite Part of the Experience

My favorite part of this internship was the experience I gained meaningful relationships I developed.
