The department of Maintenance Services works hard to provide an ensure an exceptional learning and working environment for the entire campus. Our Maintenance Staff maintain campus buildings from classroom and research labs to dining and housing spaces.

Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance
When it comes to providing maintenance services, our overall goal to improve the quality of service through increased responsiveness. The types of jobs performed by our people are primarily preventive maintenance and minor repairs. They are the direct link between the customer and University Facilities for most repairs.

Mitch started with GVSU in 2022 as an HVAC Specialist. At the end of May of 2024, He took the Director of Maintenance position at the Allendale Campus. Before joining the Grand Valley community, Mitch was a Building Operator in his birth town of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. He graduated from The University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science degree. He commutes from Grand Haven where He lives with his wife, Laura and their three children Audra, Jordan, and Barrett. Mitch is so proud and grateful to be a part of the Grand valley community, in particular Facilities Services, and He seeks to always offer his best to the students and their families, the faculty and staff, and everyone who chooses to partake in the Grand Valley experience in any capacity. Outside of work you will find him recruiting his family to join him hiking, hunting, fishing, and doing everything they can outdoors.
