Description

Episcopal Service Corps is a network of young adults ages 21-32 serving through locally organized intentional communities that are dedicated to: Serving others in solidarity; Promoting justice; Deepening spiritual awareness; Discerning vocation; Living in community. Everyone serving through ESC commits to a year of volunteer local service, as well as a household Rule of Life, regular spiritual direction, discernment and community practices. Corps members receive housing, health insurance, and small stipends to cover living expenses, transportation and food.

An ESC Year is not just another internship. Through placements like those listed above, our Corps members can apply their passion, talent, and creativity in meaningful placements dedicated to building a just society while also honing their professional skills to prepare for whatever is next.

Throughout the year, every Corps member is surrounded by mentors and leaders dedicated to providing opportunities for Corps members to dig deep into issues that matter to them, empowering them to do their part to address and change unjust structures. Joining ESC means that we take care of basic living expenses so our Corps can focus on transformation. Every ESC Corps member receives housing and utilities, insurance coverage, as well as stipends for food, living expenses, and transportation.

ECS embraces the opportunity to explore our spiritual journey. Programs range from those that are centered on Christian practices rooted in the Episcopal tradition to those that are intentionally interreligious. Every year we welcome a diverse Corps from a variety of religious backgrounds all of whom share one common goal - exploring our spiritual connectedness and embodiment as a regular aspect of our common life.

Volunteers are placed with ongoing projects around the United States. See Programs (episcopalservicecorps.org) for an overview of available placements. Home - Plainsong Farm, one of the placements, is here in Michigan and has a November 11 application deadline because the program starts in January so that  fellows can participate in the entire growing season. The other placements have a January deadline but the application process remains open until positions are filled each year. These program begin in August of each year.

The application is available at Apply (episcopalservicecorps.org)
