recognized for outstanding contributions or had their research
published are detailed below. The campus community can submit
a sketch online for future publication.
Donta Truss, vice president for Enrollment
Development and Educational Outreach, and new graduate Javier Guillen
were interviewed by WOOD-TV for a story about the HBCU-HSI
Pipeline Consortium.
Paul Stansbie, associate dean, College of Education
and Community Innovation, was interviewed by MoneyGeek for a story
about finding
the right travel credit card.
Elizabeth Doyle, executive associate for Presidential
Initiatives, Inclusion and Equity, and Karyn Rabourn,
associate professor of higher education and director of the
Master of Education, Higher Education Program, were selected to
participate in the June cohort of the HERS (Higher Education Resources
Services) Leadership Institute at Bridgewater State University
in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.
Matthew Roberts, senior instructional design
specialist for eLearning Technologies, received the Michigan
Blackboard Users' Group "Distinguished Member of the Year"
award at the annual conference held at Grand Valley.
Jason Crouthamel, professor of history, gave a
presentation, "'I Am the Lord of My Nerves': Trauma, Masculinity
and German Pilots in the First World War," at the Society of
Military History Conference in San Diego, California.
Steve Glass, professor of movement science, was the
keynote speaker, presenting, "Learning Upgrade! Research
Experience to Build your Skillset in Critical Thought and Problem
Solving," at the Michigan meeting of the American College of
Sports Medicine.
Eric Kunnen, senior director for IT Innovation and
Research, participated as a panelist for an Inside Higher Ed webinar,
"IT Leadership Panel: Exploring 5 Key Trends in Higher
Education," facilitated by Logitech.
Leanne Kang gave a presentation about research and oral histories of former GRPS students, staff and faculty at a community event. The project was funded by the Kutsche Office of Local History.
Motivational speaker Darrell "Coach D" Andrews spoke to hundreds of GEAR UP students; a sociology professor received a Distinguished Scholarly Publication award for his book.
