The Women's Commission held its 10th annual Reflections Leadership
Panel January 26 at the DeVos Center, featuring four women from across
campus departments.
Panelists were Takeelia Garrett, student ombuds; Samhita Rhodes,
professor of engineering and director of the engineering graduate
program; Lisa Surman, executive assistant, Office of the Provost; and
Kara Van Dam, vice provost for Graduate and Lifetime Learning. Women's
Commission member Katelyn Hanley Semelbauer, director of stewardship
and donor relations, served as moderator.
They provided perspective on questions ranging from personal and
professional challenges, to mentorship to personal care and work-life balance.
Guests at an event hosted on the Health Campus learned how portable ultrasound technology is saving lives in remote areas of Africa. The cybersecurity program earned designation status from the National Security Agency.
Highlights include a student recognized nationally for their commitment to democratic engagement, and Project Grand Path will be presented at a tech and innovation conference in Colorado.
