David Hecht is a Grand Rapids native. He received an engineering degree from the University of Michigan (1958) and a law degree from the University of Wisconsin (1961). David has practiced law in Grand Rapids since 1972. He has been a loyal supporter of many Grand Valley State University initiatives and active in many community organizations. He is a retired board member and former president of Opera Grand Rapids and Hospice of Michigan and a retired board member of Mercantile Bank of Michigan. David has served as president of the Charles W. Loosemore Foundation since 1994.
