Marcia Haas
Marcia Haas served as Grand Valley State University’s fourth first lady from 2006-2019. During President Emeritus Thomas J. Haas and Marcia’s tenure, Grand Valley doubled in size and impact, with more than 2.3 million square feet of facility space being added to the growing campus. Marcia served on the university’s first comprehensive campaign, Shaping Our Future, and together the couple established the Tom and Marica Haas and Family Laker Marching Band Scholarship and the Thomas J. and Marcia J. Haas Endowment for the Performing Arts.
Marcia graduated from Albion College with aspirations of becoming a teacher. She taught at all levels, from kindergarten to high school calculus. As an active member of West Michigan, Marcia has served on the Grand Rapids Symphony Board of Directors, Clark Retirement Community Board of Trustees, and the Kent County Parks Foundation Board of Directors. She is also an active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, an international women’s organization, as well as a cabinet member for the Krause Memorial Library in Rockford.
