Thomas G. Welch, Jr. is Regional President of Fifth Third Bank West Michigan, where he is responsible for the growth and strategic direction of the Bank’s lines of business, including Commercial Banking, Consumer Banking, and Wealth and Asset Management.

Tom joined Fifth Third Bank in 1993. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Northwestern University.

Tom serves on several local boards and organizations, including The Right Place, Grand Rapids Symphony, Mercy Health St. Mary’s Hospital, United Way Heart of West Michigan, The Bill and Bea Idema Foundation, Ada Christian Foundation, and Aquinas College. Tom also serves on the Board of Directors of Business Leaders for Michigan, Economic Club of Grand Rapids, and serves on the Leadership Council for Talent 2025. 

Tom is a native of Toledo, Ohio. He and his wife Laurie, and their ten children currently reside in Ada, Michigan.
