Description
FASHION A NEW IMAGE OF AGING
is the theme for the 18th annual Art & Science of Aging
Conference to be held on Friday, February 24th.
This will be a
hybrid event, in-person at the GVSU Richard M. DeVos Center, 401 W.
Fulton Street, Building E, and streaming via Whova.com linked with Zoom.
The keynote speaker is Dr. Tracey Gendron, Chair of the
Gerontology Department at Virginia Commonwealth University and
Director of the Virginia Center of Aging.
Her keynote
presentation is Ageism Unmasked: Exploring Age Bias and How to End
It.
There will also be a 18 55-minute workshops on a wide range
of aging-related topics, as well as student research posters and demonstrations.
The Art & Science of Aging Conference is held annually in
Grand Rapids Michigan on the 4th Friday in February. The purpose of
the conference is to educate and inspire those who are aging and those
who work with them to reimagine older people as resources, as
repositories of experience, wisdom, creativity, and curiosity - living
longer lives and seeking to do so healthier in spirit, body, and mind,
while staying engaged in society and their own circles of family,
friends, neighbors and their communities.
We have a diverse
audience of professionals working in aging-related services and
programs, and community members who are interested in the educational
and social opportunities offered by the conference.
