GVSU Welcomes Youth Leadership Attendees to Grand Rapids
July 15, 2014
More than 100 students from the Grand Rapids area, who are attending a youth leadership conference, were able to visit and tour Grand Valley’s Pew Grand Rapids Campus July 14.
The students are taking part in the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives 13th Annual NOBLE Youth Leadership Conference at the DeVos Place Convention Center. The theme of the conference is “Expanding the Here & Now for the Future” and Grand Valley is one of the sponsors.
Students heard from faculty, staff and students about the various ways they can connect with the university for greater insight and optimism about attending college. Dr. George Grant, Jr., Dean of the College of Community and Public Service, welcomed the students and urged them to consider college as not just a possibility, but a real option for every student.
Jennifer Palm represented the Office of Graduate Studies and guided students on a tour of the Richard M. DeVos Center.
The mission of the NOBLE Youth Program is to prepare youth to assume leadership roles in their communities and to maximize the opportunity for youth to develop to their full potential.
