GVSU Hosts Local Hult Prize Competition
September 01, 2015
GVSU is hosting a local Hult Prize competition as part of a global competition in social entrepreneurship. The Competition has partnered with the Clinton Foundation to solve "wicked problems" around the world. GVSU is trying to get at least 10 teams of a multidisciplinary nature to compete in a local event. The winner of our competition gets an automatic bid into the world regional finals. Some specifics:
- Teams may be 3-5 students
- Teams should represent as many departments as possible across the university (both graduate and undergraduate). This is not purely a business endeavor.
- Winners of the regional competition will receive funding for their ideas and will take part in an accelerator and pitch at the global finals to pitch for $1,000,000
- The theme for the competition will be announced by Bill Clinton on September 27, 2015. Last year the theme was early childhood education, and the previous year was urban slums.
GVSU is hoping to host the competition before finals week. Interested
students can contact Michael Kurley at [email protected].
This is an incredible opportunity for students to experience some
real life, hands on problem solving (with incredible networking and
resume building). Each team will be mentored from a business
standpoint to help prepare them for the competition.
