Applications open for new student advisory board

Students interested in sharing feedback and suggestions about their experiences at Grand Valley are invited to apply to be a member of a new advisory board.

The Vice Provost for Student Affairs Student Advisory Board, which will include 10-15 members, will meet monthly throughout the academic year to discuss topics about the university and student experiences.

Any enrolled undergraduate or graduate student can apply to join the board, which will be led by Loren Rullman, vice provost for Student Affairs and dean of students. Applications are due October 22 and interviews will take place in November.

Rullman said students' perspectives will help him consider ways the Division of Student Services can better serve students, and advisory board members will be also be invited to discuss other issues of importance to the university.

“I am particularly interested in students who are good critical thinkers, have varying backgrounds and perspectives, and are interested in working closely together to think about matters of importance to the university and student life," said Rullman.

The Division of Student Services includes nine departments: Dean of Students Office, Campus Recreation, Career Center, Children's Enrichment Center, Health Center-Allendale, Housing and Residence Life, Student Conduct, Office of Student Life and University Counseling Center, as well as a Student Ombuds and support for the Veterans Network, and Parent and Family Orientation.
