Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation Award Opportunity!

The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) Foundation is now accepting proposals for their annual Student Award Program!

This program is intended to support medical and doctoral students in Michigan who aim to improve quality and access to health care. This opportunity would include students in Grand Valley State University’s Audiology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy graduate programs, as well as any other accredited universities in Michigan.

The award offers a one-year $3,000 stipend for doctoral-level projects starting the Spring/Summer semester. Students working together on the same project will divide the stipend. The BCBSM Foundation awards up to 25 applications yearly.

Student’s proposals should include:

  • Approximately 1,000-3,000 words
  • Double-spaced
  • Background
  • Hypothesis(es)
  • Expected outcomes
  • Addressing health equity and social determinants of health
  • Addressing how this work is valuable to the population, increases the quality of care, and improves access to healthcare
  • Conclusion

Citations are not included in the word limit. IRB approval is needed prior to the first payment of the project but is not needed at the time of the application.

Students are ineligible if:

  • You already have results for this project
  • You have received this award before
  • Employees of BCBSM and any BCBSM affiliate, including their immediate family members, are ineligible
  • Your proposed project involves research including non-human subjects or drug studies
