Biology Student Receives Award
February 26, 2016
Devin Jones (right), a student in the lab of Professor Amy Russell won an award at the 2016 Colloquium on the Conservation of Mammals last week, hosted by the Southeastern Bat Diversity Network. Devin gave her first oral presentation there, entitled “Trophic transfer of microcystin from a freshwater lake to little brown bats”. She won an award for Outstanding Oral Presentation. The meeting was on February 18-19 in Guntersville, Alabama. It’s a regional meeting, attended mainly by field biologists, state and federal agency biologists, and consultants. Devin did a terrific job of presenting her very technical genetic and toxicological research to an audience of non-specialists.
