A Biology Student's Research
November 01, 2019
Cassidy Gilmore is a second-year student in the Master of Science in Biology program. She is involved in a fellowship through the Michigan Space Grant Consortium under Dr. Strychar in which she is studying the effects of climate change on a type of coral called Acropora Cervicomis. Cassidy is passionate about saving coral reefs from the warming temperatures and increasing acidity of the ocean, in addition to other negative anthropogenic influences. Through her research, she hopes to find a method that will allow coral reefs to survive in higher temperatures.
In addition to being involved in research, Cassidy is also a graduate assistant for the Annis Water Resources Institute and has had the opportunity to present posters at multiple conferences. Cassidy is working hard in an area that she is so passionate about. Way to go Cassidy!
