Graduate Student Contributes to State Autism Plan

March 12, 2013

Rebecca Brinkley, a 2011 graduate of the Master of Public Administration program, contributed significant research work to the Autism Education Center on a state plan to improve supports and outcomes for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Rebecca worked as a Graduate Assistant for the Autism Education Center under the direction of Dr. Amy Matthews, Department of Psychology at GVSU, on this comprehensive plan for the state of Michigan. The plan covers birth through lifespan and reviews the current situation, gaps, and recommendations in Michigan across key focus areas, including early intensive behavioral intervention, evidence based practice, family, education, adult services, and more.

Lt. Governor Brian Calley will unveil this plan on Monday, March 18 in Lansing. This announcement will also include the launch of a website developed by the Autism Education Center. An agenda for the press conference is available here.
