August 10, 2021
Sarah Lamar, who graduated from the Robert B. Annis Water Resources Institute in 2019, has recently had an article in The Guardian written about her Ph.D. work. Sarah is currently obtaining a Ph.D. in Ecology & Biodiversity from Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand. Her work involves the collection and preservation of at-risk animal's reproductive matter in an effort to save species from becoming extinct due to climate change.
Sarah is continuing a successful academic career that she showcased throughout her time at Grand Valley State University. She was the first-place winner of the 2019 3-Minute Thesis Competition with her Thesis "Biological Invasions on a Large Scale: Investigating the Spread of Baby's Breath (Gypsophila paniculata) Across North America." She received the Graduate Dean Citation Award for Leadership and Service to GVSU in the same year.
Sarah Lamar continues to demonstrate a solid dedication to her research and study in the field of Biology, and her work is creating a safeguard for vulnerable species to live on despite the impact of climate change. Way to go, Sarah!
