Former board member to address entrepreneurship

The CEO of a Detroit auto supply company who has a long history of entrepreneurship is the next speaker in the Professionals of Color Lecture Series at Grand Valley State University.

William F. Pickard, chairman and CEO of VITEC, LLC, will present "Entrepreneurship in the Global Economy" on Thursday, November 5, from 6-7:30 p.m. in Loosemore Auditorium at the DeVos Center, 401 W. Fulton St. in Grand Rapids. The event is free and open to the public.

In addition to VITEC, Pickard is chair and CEO of Global Automotive Alliance, with six manufacturing entities with eight plants in four states and Canada. He also serves on the board for numerous civic and business organizations.

Pickard was a member of Grand Valley's Board of Control from 1977-1988. There is a living center named for him on the Allendale Campus. Pickard earned a bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University, a master's degree from the University of Michigan and a doctoral degree from Ohio State University.
