Grand Valley Student Senate works to restore Promise

ALLENDALE, Mich. — The Grand Valley State University Student Senate has been working in conjunction with university administration with hopes of reversing Michigan lawmakers' decision to cut the Michigan Promise Scholarship. Members of the Student Senate have been in Lansing several times over the last few months to promote their support for the continuation of the scholarship on behalf of the Grand Valley State University student body.

The Student Senate has also worked in conjunction with the Student Association of Michigan to encourage student bodies to contact their state lawmakers via phone or e-mail to register their discontent with the decision to eliminate the Promise Scholarship.

"Student Senate will continue to work rigorously on behalf of Grand Valley State students both in Lansing and in Grand Rapids until the budget has been finalized, and into the future if necessary," said Student Senate President Autumn Trombka.

Grand Valley students should contact one of their student senators to receive more information on how they can help affect change in Lansing. For more information, visit www.michiganpromisescholarship.com.
