Grand Valley student worked on Michael Moore film

When the sold-out premiere of Michael Moore's new film, "Capitalism: A Love Story," was screened at Lincoln Center Tully Hall in New York City last week, a Grand Valley State University student was in the audience - and appeared in the film's credits as an archival assistant.

Jay Teegardin, a junior film and video student in the School of Communications at Grand Valley, worked on the film for five months, starting out as an intern.

"I did a lot of transcribing, logging film, and on-line research, said Teegardin.  "I worked with the assistant editors classifying material and annotating pictures and clips. Through this experience I learned how important hard work and dedication are to a production of this magnitude. I feel incredibly grateful for this opportunity and hope it's one of many to come."

This was Teegardin's first time to New York and inspired hopes to return in the near future.

"I think the film should be viewed by everyone in America.  Michael Moore's new movie will make you laugh out loud and may even bring you to tears. It truly is a ground-breaking documentary," he said.

"Capitalism: A Love Story" will hit theaters nationwide on Friday, October 2.
