ALLENDALE, Mich. — Grand Valley State University is hosting a
one-day conference titled “From Cold War to War On Terror.”
The conference runs from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. on Friday, October
16, in room 2266 of Grand Valley’s Kirkhof Center on the Allendale
Campus.
The conference features a keynote address by Dr.
Ido Oren from the University of Florida titled: “WMD: Words of Mass
Distraction.” There will also be a roundtable discussion of Oren’s
book, “Our Enemies and Us,” which is a provocative critique of U.S.
comparative and international relations scholarship.
Other speakers include Patrick Roberts from Virginia Tech, William
Rose from Albion College, and Grand Valley professors Andrew Schlewitz
and James Goode. Also speaking will be Brian Flanagan and Austin
Knuppe from Grand Valley’s Hauenstein Center for Presidential
Studies.
