Michigan-born author Jim Harrison, whose work has been published in 27 languages, will speak at Grand Valley State University. Harrison's complete works and papers are housed and open to the public for research at Grand Valley's Special Collections on the Allendale Campus.
Harrison will give a public reading on Monday, October 5, at 6 p.m. in the Loosemore Auditorium, DeVos Center, 401 W. Fulton, Pew Grand Rapids Campus.
The $25 ticket price includes general seating admission to the reading, followed by a book signing and reception. Doors open at 5 p.m. with book sales; program begins at 6 p.m., with book signing and a reception to follow. All reserved tickets can be picked up at the will call table beginning at 5 p.m. the night of the event.
A winner of a National Endowment for the Arts grant, Harrison is the author of five volumes of novellas, nine novels, eight collections of poetry, and three works of nonfiction. His latest novel, The English Major, was published by Grove Press in September 2008.
