The GVSU Arts at Noon Series will bring seven eclectic performances
to the Allendale Campus during the winter/spring semester. Admission
is free to each concert, which begins at noon in the Cook-DeWitt
Center.
The season opener, Wednesday, January 20, brings one of our
region's premier harmonica blues player and his own Grand Rapids-based
band, Tomas Esparza & The Blues Experience. Esparza has succeeded
at the rare task of creating something original, using the building
blocks of the traditional harmonica greats of the 1950s, as well as
incorporating the music he heard as a child in his native Mexico.
The Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra will make its yearly Grand
Valley visit to perform on Wednesday, January 27. Truly one of West
Michigan's cultural landmarks, the GRSO is now in its 10th year under
the inspired leadership of Maestro David Lockington.
