A series of events planned by Grand Valley State University will celebrate the bicentennial of the Mexican Revolution. Latin American Studies Director Zulema Moret spearheaded the celebration, with more than a dozen events both on and off campus. Serenade Under the Moon: “Serenata a la luz de la luna” - Mariachi music - Mariachi de Oro at Loosemore Auditorium & Outdoor Courtyard, Pew Grand Rapids Campus. Professor Carlos de la Barrera will give a brief introduction on Mariachi music history and origin.

Lecture: “Globalization, the Virgin of Guadalupe and the Politics of Representation in Chicana Visual Art” by Dr. Clara Roman Odio, from Kenyon College, at Cook-DeWitt Auditorium, Allendale Campus.
