Several campus departments are sponsoring events to coincide with
National Eating Disorders Week, which runs February 25-March 4. The
Counseling Center will be available for consultations during National
Eating Disorders Screening Day, Thursday, February 25.
Staff members will be available from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at various
locations: Kirkhof Center lobby, Kleiner Commons, DeVos Center,
Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences lobby and North C. They will
also staff the Campus Recreation Center from 4-6 p.m., and the
Counseling Center office from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Participants will be
asked to fill out a questionnaire, and can elect to talk with a center

"Conversations on Loving Your Body" events are planned
from February 25-March 4. Events are sponsored by the College of
Liberal Arts and Sciences, Women and Gender Studies, Counseling
Center, Movement Science, Women's Center and Office of Multicultural
Affairs. Highlights from the week include the following:
- Film "Beauty Mark," March 3, 7 p.m., Kirkhof Center, Grand River Room: Tri-athlete Diane Israel examines popular culture's emphasis on weight and looks. A panel will respond to questions following the film.
- Presentation, "How to Approach Someone You Think May Have an Eating Disorder," March 4, 1 p.m., Kirkhof Cener, Pere Marquette Room: Shari Bartz, assistant professor of movement science, will discuss how to recognize signs of an eating disorder and how to help.
- Jean Swap, March 3-4, noon-4 p.m., Kirkhof Center, room 1201: The Women's Center will host a swap of jeans. Bring a pair in that no longer fits, and swap it for a new pair.
