Faculty and Staff Campaign reaches record level of participation

Grand Valley's Faculty and Staff Campaign for 2009-2010 has reached 50 percent participation, a number staff members connected with the campaign say is fitting as the university heads into its 50th anniversary year.

Shaun Shira, annual giving manager for University Development, said it’s the first time Grand Valley faculty and staff members have given to the campaign in such large numbers.

"We knew that we had set an ambitious goal for this year because there are very few colleges and universities in the country that have faculty and staff giving at this level," he said. "Thanks to the incredible culture of giving at Grand Valley and the commitment of our volunteer leaders who kept pushing for the goal, we were able to achieve it."

Shira said more than 1,200 faculty and staff members gave a gift that will support university scholarships, programs and capital projects.

The following departments reached 100 percent participation: Alumni Relations, Annis Water Resources Institute, Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Human Resources, Institutional Marketing, LGBT Resource Center, MAREC, Meadows, Michigan SBTDC, News and Information Services, Padnos College of Engineering Dean’s Office, Padnos International Center, Regional Math and Science Center, Seidman Dean’s Office, Seidman Finance, Seidman Marketing, Seidman Undergraduate Advising, Simulation Center, Student Services Office, University Counsel, University Development, University Relations Office, Van Andel Global Trade Center, and Women’s Center.
