Roger Moiles, affiliate professor of
political science, was interviewed by the Detroit News and
WWMT-TV for stories about Congressional primary races.
Alan Steinman, director of the Annis Water Resources
Institute, was interviewed by the New York Times, Detroit
Free Press and Greenwire for stories about the Kalamazoo River
oil spill.
Danielle Wiese Leek, assistant professor of
communications, was interviewed by WZZM-TV for a story about analysis
of Michigan's primary election.
Sketches
Peimin Ni, professor of philosophy and
East Asian Studies, gave a presentations, "Philosophy and Our
Common Future" and "What Praxiology, Action Theory, and
Pragmatism all Fall Short Of: Introducing ‘Gongfu’ as a Philosophical
Concept," at the Society of Asian and Comparative Philosophy
Conference in Asilomar, California. Ni serves as president of the
organization. Ni also gave presentations: "What can Confucian
Scholarship on Gongfu Inspire Philosophy in General," at the
Chinese University of Hong Kong; and "From ‘Legitimacy’ to
‘Legislation’ – An Assessment of the Changing Status of Chinese
Philosophy," at the International Conference on the Development
of Chinese Philosophy at Wuhan University, China.
Alan Steinman, director of the Annis Water Resources
Institute, was reappointed for a three-year term to the International
Joint Commission's Public Interest Advisory Group, which is addressing
water levels in the Upper Great Lakes. He also gave a presentation at
the Hamlin Lake Association's Annual Banquet in Ludington.
"Lake Invaders: The Fight for Lake Huron," a
documentary film produced by associate professor John Schmit
with students in the School of Communications, aired on PBS
station WETA in Washington, D.C., the first PBS broadcast outside
Michigan.
