Grand Valley celebrates Fall Arts Celebration 2010 and its 50th anniversary year with a series of exceptional events. Among them are two consecutive Art Gallery exhibitions to showcase some of the diverse talents of faculty.
"We invited tenure track faculty in the Department of Art & Design and the School of Communications to take part in this year's Art Gallery exhibition for the Fall Arts Celebration," said Director of Galleries and Collections Henry Matthews. "With so many faculty artists interested in participating, we decided to hold two exhibits to allow ample space for all."
Exhibition dates for MultiMedia I are August 27- October 1, with an opening reception, Wednesday, September 15, from 5-7 p.m.
MultiMedia II exhibition dates are October 14 - November 19, with an opening reception, Thursday, October 14, from 5-7 p.m. Both exhibitions and receptions are free and open to the public in the GVSU Art Gallery, Performing Arts Center, Allendale Campus.
More than 60 recent and new works by 28 faculty will be featured. A wide range of media including animation, installation, metals, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, video and works on paper will be included in the exhibits, which will have different artists in each show. See a complete list of participating artists at www.gvsu.edu/artgallery.
Those who come for both exhibitions will get to see a full range of the faculty's award-winning production. By continuing to create fine works and remaining vitally involved in their art, they bring current expertise to their students in the classroom.
