Grand Valley trustee chair appointed to national council

Kate Pew Wolters, the chair of Grand Valley State University’s Board of Trustees, has been appointed to the Council of Board Chairs of the Association of Governing Board of Universities and Colleges.

The Council of Board Chairs for the AGB serves as an advisory body to AGB’s board and president. The council provides advice on programs, services, public policy issues and initiatives.

“It’s a real honor to have Grand Valley represented on the AGB board with peers from across the country,” said Wolters. “I’m looking forward to sharing my experience as board chair but more than that, learning best practices of governance to bring back to my work at Grand Valley.”

Wolters began her appointment with Grand Valley State University’s Board of Trustees in 2005, becoming chair in July 2009. She holds a master’s degree in social work from Michigan State University and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Aquinas College.
