GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Valley State University's Center for
Entrepreneurship and Innovation will help local high school students
learn about entrepreneurship in its fourth annual summer academy.
The Teen Entrepreneur Summer Academy will be held from June
21-23 on Grand Valley's Pew Grand Rapids Campus, and will be open to a
group of 35 high school students. During the academy, students will
become aware of small business and entrepreneurship opportunities in
West Michigan, and gain hands-on experience guided by area
entrepreneurs. It culminates with a pitch competition in which winners
will receive cash prizes up to $400.
The academy is
sponsored by the Seidman College of Business' Center for
Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and is designed for students entering
grades 9-12. Participants are selected based on areas of interest,
GPA, and the recommendations of educators. Students will leave the
academy with entrepreneurial knowledge and a unique university experience.
