MUSKEGON, Mich. — Grand Valley State University is offering a new
degree completion program that it hopes will educate a new generation
of leaders in Muskegon and beyond.
The Muskegon Leadership Program is a partnership between Grand
Valley and Muskegon Community College. It allows students to earn
bachelor's degrees in Liberal Studies, with emphasis leadership. The
courses will be held at the Stevenson Center for Higher Education on
the campus of Muskegon Community College. The students will go
through the program together as a cohort, helping them develop a group
of lifetime friends and colleagues.
"This program is perfect for people with a genuine desire
to become leaders — from first-time college students to community
college transfer students or returning adults," said Simone
Jonaitis, executive director of Continuing Education at Grand Valley.
"The coursework will encourage students to question, study and
understand the complexities of today's professional world. With a
focus on problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills,
it will provide the expertise that employers are looking for."
MCC and Grand Valley will host information sessions about the
program on March 17 at 12:30 p.m. in the Blue and Gold Room and 5:30
p.m. in the Stevenson Center Room 1200. For more information, visit
