GVSU names new dean of Graduate Studies

ALLENDALE, Mich. — Grand Valley State University has named Jeffrey Potteiger as its new dean of graduate studies, beginning in July 2010. 

Potteiger will come to Grand Valley from Miami University in Ohio, where he has been a faculty member and served in several administrative positions for the past seven years. He is currently a professor of kinesiology and health and the founding director of the Center for Health Enhancement. His career has also included faculty appointments at Indiana State University, University of Kansas, and Virginia Commonwealth University.

Potteiger earned his bachelor's degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and his master's degree from McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. He earned a Ph.D. in exercise physiology from Auburn University in Alabama.

As dean of graduate studies, Potteiger will work with Grand Valley's 28 graduate degree programs, and the research and scholarly activities associated with them.
