GVSU to host distinguished folklorist and musician Joe Hickerson

Guest artist Joe Hickerson will bring more than 50 years of  folk music experience during his visit to Grand Valley State University.

"My 50+ Years in Folk Music: Songs from the English-Speaking World," will be presented in concert by Hickerson. The distinguished folklorist and folk musician, will perform on Wednesday, March 31, from 8:30-10 p.m., in room 1515 of the Performing Arts Center, on the Allendale Campus. Admission is free and open to the public.

The author of several verses of "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" in 1960, Hickerson was Librarian and Director of the Archive of Folk Song/Culture at the Library of Congress from 1963 to 1998. Pete Seeger has called him "a great songleader," and Hickerson calls himself a "vintage pre-plugged paleo-acoustic folksinger." Hickerson has performed throughout North America and in Europe, specializing in English-language folksong.
