Patricia Roehling, professor and chair of psychology at Hope
College, will speak at Grand Valley on "Balancing Work and
Family: A Challenge for the Millennial Generation."
Her discussion is set for Tuesday, January 20, from 2:30 – 4:30

the lecture will be a student-led discussion. Roehling's presentation
is sponsored by Work Life Connections and the Writing Department.
Roehling has been conducting research since 1997 in the area of
work and family, a subject she became interested in when she was
director of research at the Cornell Employment and Family Careers
Institute. Roehling's other areas of research include weight
discrimination, acculturation, and the well-being among Hispanic
youth.
In 2004, Roehling co-wrote a book with Phyllis Moen, The
Career Mystique: Cracks in the American Dream, which discusses
the outdated myths of the career game that have been embedded in the
American dream.
