Guest artists from around the world will provide education for
developing musicians at the Grand Valley State University
International Trumpet Seminar, now in its sixth year under the
direction of Richard Stoelzel, associate professor of trumpet.
Held July 17-24 in the Performing Arts Center, on the Allendale
Campus, students will learn trumpet techniques and styles ranging from
jazz and improv to orchestra repertoire and solo literature during
clinics, group lessons and master classes.
During the intense week of learning, students will also have the
opportunity to participate in trumpet ensembles and solo competition.
Each evening closes with a faculty recital, and the seminar culminates
in a final concert showcasing pieces the students have worked on all
week. All concerts and recitals are open to the public.
For more information including a complete list of concerts and
ticket information, call the Music Department, (616) 331-3484, or
