The campus community is invited to attend a memorial service for George MacDonald, former Grand Valley athletic director.
The service will be held on May 6, 4 p.m., in the Alumni House; it
is hosted by the Athletic Department.
MacDonald, professor
emeritus of physical education and recreation, died March 30 at 87.
MacDonald came to Grand Valley in 1974 and retired in 1989. During
that time, he served as athletic director from 1976-1989 and was
involved with the construction and renovation of many of the athletic
facilities, including Lubbers Stadium and the Fieldhouse.
In addition to his work as athletic director, MacDonald was a
professor and chair of the Physical Education and Therapeutic
departments and also served as assistant dean in the College of
Science and Mathematics.
