MultiMedia II features Grand Valley faculty

Grand Valley State University celebrates Fall Arts Celebration 2010 and its 50th anniversary year with a series of exceptional events. Among them is the second of two Art Gallery exhibitions to showcase some of the diverse talents of faculty.

Tenure track faculty in the Department of Art & Design and the School of Communications were invited to take part in this year's Art Gallery exhibition for the Fall Arts Celebration. With so many faculty artists interested in participating, two exhibits were planned to allow ample space for all.

MultiMedia II exhibition dates are October 14-November 19, with an opening reception, Thursday, October 14, from 5-7 p.m. Both the exhibition and reception are free and open to the public in the GVSU Art Gallery in the Performing Arts Center, on the Allendale Campus.

A wide range of media including animation, installation, metals, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, video and works on paper will be included in the exhibits, which will have 14 different artists in each show.

Instead of a typical exhibition catalog, a virtual book has been developed, which is available for viewing online at www.gvsu.edu/artgallery. It features a biography of each artist, a sample of their work, and a short essay that presents a context for the history of faculty exhibitions at the fine arts gallery.

Those who came for the MultiMedia I exhibition will get to see a full range of the faculty's award-winning production by returning for viewing MultiMedia II. By continuing to create fine works and remaining vitally involved in their art, Grand Valley faculty bring current expertise to their students in the classroom.
