Professors and students dig for bones

Grand Valley State University professors and students are helping authorities dig for and analyze human bones found outside of a home near Cutlerville. The bones are believed to be about 100 years old.

Gwyn Madden, assistant professor of anthropology, was asked to help excavate the area and was assisted by Grand Valley anthropology professors Heather Van Wormer and Elizabeth Arnold. Two Grand Valley anthropology students, Wesley Jackson and Chris Carrol-Howard, also helped excavate the site.

The homeowner found a skull under a tree that had blown over in a storm. So far, bones from at least five people have been found.
