Students remind campus to hand in Census

Grand Valley students staffed a table in the Kirkhof Center Tuesday, bringing awareness to the importance of filling out the U.S. Census.

Melissa Masson said the hand image and Michigan map were used to demonstrate how each Michigan resident contributes to funding and representation necessary for improving the state’s economic and political situations.

Masson and four other students, who are all public relations/advertising majors, are competing in the national Bateman Competition sponsored by the Public Relations Student Society of America. All Bateman teams are preparing case studies based on the U.S. Census.

The 2010 Census questionnaire will be delivered to on-campus students in April. The Census form will be mailed to homes in March.
