More than 350 Grand Valley students, faculty and staff members are expected to participate in Make a Difference Day on Sunday, October 23, which will also serve as a kick-off event for Grand Valley's Sustainability Week.
Entering its 20th year, Make a Difference Day is promoted by USA Today and focuses on putting individual cares on hold for one day to care for others. There are 19 participating agencies in Grand Rapids this year including Kent County Parks, Habitat for Humanity, John Ball Zoo and Midtown Neighborhood Association.
Participants are scheduled to arrive at the Kirkhof Center at 9 a.m. when Tish Norman, from Campus Speak, will greet them with a motivational speech. Volunteers will then be bused to various sites from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
