Charter Schools leader wins education award

Timothy Wood, special assistant to the president for Charter Schools at Grand Valley State University, was recently awarded an Excellence in Education award.

The state-level award was given out by AdvancEd, an education company, during a ceremony on Wednesday, November 9 in Lansing.

Wood was honored for his service to the educational community and for demonstrating unparalleled leadership in promoting and advancing excellence in education.

Nominees for the award included teachers, administrators, board of education members, or community representatives.

Before he joined the GVSU team, Wood was the superintendent of Saugatuck Public Schools. He also served as the principal of Northview High School in Grand Rapids and Lakewood High School in Lake Odessa.
