The lives of six women and girls killed during the Grand Rapids
shooting rampage in July will be among those remembered during the
Silent Witness event sponsored by Grand Valley’s Women’s Center.
Silent Witness is an annual event to remember women and children
in Michigan who have died because of domestic or dating violence; it’s
held during October, recognizing the month as domestic violence
awareness month.
The Grand Valley is set for Wednesday, October 12, beginning at
12:30 p.m. at the Pew Grand Rapids Campus, in the DeVos courtyard.
Speakers will include Charisse Mitchell, executive director for
the Center for Women in Transition, and Lesley Coghill, DELTA project
coordinator at the Center for Women in Transition. For more
information, contact the Women’s Center at x12748.
