Popular national radio show host Michael Eric Dyson will give a
presentation at Grand Valley on Wednesday, highlighting the
university's commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Week.
Dyson will discuss “What's Next? Martin Luther King Jr. in the
21st Century” on Wednesday, January 19, beginning at 5 p.m. in the
Louis Armstrong Theatre, Performing Arts Center, on the Allendale
Campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Dyson, professor of sociology at Georgetown University, is the
author of 16 books and is well-known for his commentary on popular
culture and African American society. Ebony magazine has named him one
of the most influential African Americans.
Because of the expected popularity of his presentation, his
lecture will be simulcast to overflow rooms in the Kirkhof Center,
Allendale Campus, and Loosemore Auditorium, DeVos Center on the Pew
Grand Rapids Campus. Parking for community members is designated in
the Fulton Street Lot on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus and Lot H on the
Allendale Campus.
The Shake the World Unity Choir will perform prior to his
