Juan Buriel will highlight Grand Valley’s Cesar Chavez Celebration
with a keynote address, “What Do We Do with This History Now?”
Buriel is an associate professor of English at the College of
Canyons in California. He has worked extensively with the Latino
community to develop a generation of young leaders.
His presentation is set for Thursday, March 31, in the Kirkhof
Center, Grand River Room, at 1 p.m. It will be preceded by a silent
march at noon with participants gathering at the front of Zumberge Library.
Buriel has written numerous publications, including “Feasting of
Latino Labor in Multicultural Los Angeles.” Cesar Chavez events are
sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs with support from
many other campus departments.
