Events planned to honor Cesar Chavez

Juan Buriel will highlight Grand Valley’s Cesar Chavez Celebration with a keynote address, “What Do We Do with This History Now?”

Buriel is an associate professor of English at the College of Canyons in California. He has worked extensively with the Latino community to develop a generation of young leaders.

His presentation is set for Thursday, March 31, in the Kirkhof Center, Grand River Room, at 1 p.m. It will be preceded by a silent march at noon with participants gathering at the front of Zumberge Library.

Buriel has written numerous publications, including “Feasting of Latino Labor in Multicultural Los Angeles.” Cesar Chavez events are sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs with support from many other campus departments.
