Faculty and staff create 'Lasting Legacy'

When Mary Seeger and Bill Baum started a campaign to encourage faculty and staff members to support scholarships for students, they couldn’t have imagined the impact of the legacy they were building.

Three decades later, a record 51 percent of all faculty and staff members support Grand Valley each year through gifts to scholarships, academic programs and capital projects. This year, campaign co-chairs Paul Stephenson, professor of statistics, and Mary Ann Watters, Regional Math and Science Center assistant, hope even more faculty and staff members will create their own legacies at Grand Valley by giving to the university’s endowment. All gifts to endowed scholarships, centers and programs will be matched again this year, doubling the impact of gifts to those funds.

Initial information about this year’s campaign, “A Lasting Legacy,” has been mailed or e-mailed to faculty and staff members recently. For more information about the campaign please visit www.gvsu.edu/giving/fscampaign or contact Shaun Shira, University Development, at x16520 or [email protected].
