Steve Glass, associate dean of Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies and professor of movement science, completed the Management Development Program (Higher Education Administration) at Harvard University.

Student Life staff members Michelle Burke and Valerie Jones gave a presentation, "Leading With Personality: Using the True Colors Instrument with College Students," at the International True Colors Association Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Paul Isely, associate professor of economics, was appointed by Gov. Rick Synder to the Utility Consumer Participation Board.

Carl Ruetz, associate professor of environmental biology at the Annis Water Resources Institute, received a grant from the EPA's Great Lakes Restoration Initiative for "White Lake AOC Habitat Restoration Initiative for BUI Delisting."

Cassonya Carter-Pugh, director of the KCON Office of Student Services, received the 2011 Herm Green Jr. Community Service Award at the Champion of Character All-Star Game at Cornerstone University.

Elena Lioubimtseva, associate professor of geography and planning, received a grant from the National Center for Science and Civic Engagement and GLISTEN for "West Michigan Cluster."

Jennifer McCaul, director of the College of Community and Public Service Advising Center, received an Outstanding Advising Certificate of Merit from the National Academic Advising Association.

Annis Water Resources Institute staff members Nadia Gillett and Al Steinman co-wrote an article, "An Analysis of Long-term Phytoplankton Dynamics in Muskegon Lake, a Great Lakes Area of Concern," published in the Journal of Great Lakes Research.

Richard S. Vallery, assistant professor of physics, wrote an article, "From Single Molecules to Micelles — an In-Situ Study of Porogen Aggregation and Nanopore Formation Mechanisms in Porous Thin Films," published in Microporous and Mesoporous Materials.

Linda Scott, professor of nursing and associate dean of graduate programs, received a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for the fourth year of funding for Advanced Education Nursing Traineeships.
