Several Grand Valley departments will sponsor a presentation by
Robert Jensen, an expert on the impact of pornography on men and women.
"The Price of Pleasure: Pornography, Sexuality and
Relationships" is set for Wednesday, March 16, at 6 p.m. in the
Kirkhof Center, Pere Marquette room. It is sponsored by Women and
Gender Studies, Counseling Center and the Women's Center; the event is
free and open to the public.
Jensen is a professor of journalism at the University of Texas
at Austin. Much of his research has focused on pornography and the
radical feminist critique of sexuality. He is the author of numerous
books, the latest is Getting Off: Pornography and the End of
Masculinity.
During his presentation, Jensen will
discuss the effect pornography has on society and the role the adult
film industry plays in popular culture. A video will be shown; due to
its mature content, viewer discretion is advised.
