Kate Coveney, an applied mathematics major, received a competitive
scholarship sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Coveney, from Indianapolis, Indiana, received an $8,000 award
for the next two years plus $6,500 to attend a 10-week summer session
at a NOAA facility for an internship in NOAA-related science,
research, technology, policy, management and education activities.
Coveney, a Frederik Meijer Honors College student, was one of 72
recipients selected from a national pool of applicants for the Ernest
F. Hollings Scholarship. The scholarship program is designed to
increase undergraduate training in oceanic and atmospheric science,
research, technology and education.
